The Image Beyond the Eye. Reflections on the Development of the Image in the Age of Technology is a film essay by Marcin Nowicki.
The film reflects on the contemporary transformations of the image in the era of artificial intelligence and digital technologies. The author poses questions about what visuality becomes in a world of algorithms, generative models, and learning systems. Does the image still belong to the human eye, or is it increasingly created beyond it?
It is a story of a shift in perspective: from the image as a record of reality to the image as a process, a relation, and a technological event. The film combines analysis, personal reflection, and experimental form, exploring the limits of perception and the role of the creator in a world co-shaped by non-human intelligence.
“The Image Beyond the Eye” attempts to capture a moment of transition — a time in which we are redefining both the very concept of the image and our place in relation to technology, which is playing an ever more active role in its creation.
